Cafe Rooftop in Haeundae, Busan

As someone who was born and raised near the beaches of Florida, I feel as though my soul is forever tied to the sea. Thankfully, Changwon — the city I live in — is about an hour away from the east coast of Busan, Korea, making it close enough to make a day trip during the weekends.

There’s a cafe that I’ve had my eye on for about a year now — Cafe Rooftop — located in Haeundae, Busan. What makes this cafe special is the view — it’s right on the beach, so you can sip your coffee while listening to the waves crash on the coast. It’s a sound that takes me home despite being so far away from it.

The interior of the cafe reminded of a hip, modern apartment you mind find somewhere in Brooklyn. It was decorated with modern, colorful art and playful furniture. It’s the kind of cafe you could spend a decent amount of time in chatting with friends.

We ordered our drinks — iced vanilla latte and an iced americano — as well as a chocolate almond croissant with a cream filling to hold us over until lunch. Admittedly, the drinks and food are nothing you can’t find at any other cafe in town, but the view Cafe Rooftop offers is what really distinguishes it from the rest.

The rooftop itself has a ton of seating, and couches specifically for taking pictures. It was too windy for us to want to stay up there for too long, but on a less windy day, this would be a perfect place for hanging outside.

Overall, this is such a great place for spending an afternoon, and the view of the sea made this Florida girl’s soul happy.
